In the morning, we head to a local Eagle Hunter’s home, ride horses with them and witness actual Eagle Hunting. The golden eagles that live in the high Altai mountains, in this region, build their nests in the crags of the area’s rugged peaks as aren’t many trees. Hunters belonging to traditional nomadic clans, climb up to these crevices to capture the birds at around four years old, which is old enough to know how to hunt but young enough to be pliable to human company and training. After an in-depth insight into the true bond between the hunters and the eagle we will return back to our private Ger camps in the evening.

Jargalant Khairkhan Mountain is an isolated extension of the Mongol Altai mountain range. Located in the middle of Khar Us Lake Depression, the diversity of habitats and wildlife at the site is rich in many ways. At 3796m above sea level, this mountain crowns a teardrop-shaped massif encircled by Khar Us, Khar and Dörgön lakes.
Each day we start our daily hikes at around 10 a.m and return to base at 4:30-5 p.m, and packed lunch will be provided during these days. Each day we will hike and explore different valley based on territorial marking, trace, pugmark, scats etc. We will set up motion sensor cameras in several valleys and use their data for our search. Each Ger would be equipped with stove that works by coal and dung, folding beds with mattresses, and each guest will have 3 seasonal wide cotton coveted sleeping bags. And our camps will have facilities like field WC with closure and seats, wash sink and hot water. Every evening we enjoy dinner made by local field cook and discuss the next day’s plan. Some afternoon we can also drive on the frozen Khar Us Lake for an additional punch of motoring adventure.
