In November 2021, Nomadic Road's Zambezi Rendezvous expedition took a larger-than-standard convoy of overlanders 3,000 kilometres across Zambia and along the Zambezi River basin over eight days. The Rendezvous format brought together repeat Nomadic Road travellers, first-time participants and team members for a shared route, with the social energy of a gathering layered onto the driving. The route mixed dirt roads, soft sand sections and the occasional tarmac stretch. November sits at the transition between Zambia's dry and rainy seasons, with the first storms starting to build over the bush and the Zambezi River still running at its post-dry low. Wildlife was still concentrated heavily around water sources, and the early-season rains brought new green to the dry landscape, giving the trip a visual contrast that the October edition does not deliver. The convoy passed Victoria Falls, with its low-water geology still on display, and worked through national parks including South Luangwa and Kafue. The 2021 Rendezvous group included a wider international mix than a standard edition. Evenings were longer and more social, with shared fires, larger dinners and the kind of stories that build up across multiple Nomadic Road expeditions. Wildlife encounters featured elephants, hippos, the occasional lion, and the usual antelope, baboons and birds. Several stretches involved soft-sand driving that demanded deflated tyres and careful line choice. The November 2021 Zambezi Rendezvous delivered Zambia at one of its most visually layered moments. Dry-season golds met new green, with the social energy of a Rendezvous gathering threaded through the entire route.
