Echoes of the Kalahari

Upon arrival at Gaborone International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred the Game Lodge - that quickly immerses you in Botswana’s natural charm. Later this evening, we will have our expedition briefing followed by a wonderful welcome dinner.

After breakfast, we set off toward the vast wilderness of Khutse Game Reserve. The drive takes us first along smooth tarmac roads before transitioning into rugged off-road tracks—an adventure in itself as we head deeper into the Kalahari.

Today is about slowing down, immersing ourselves in the scenery, and truly connecting with the land. Throughout the day, we’ll enjoy slow reconnaissance—taking time to appreciate the sweeping pans, the golden grasslands, and the wildlife that calls this reserve home. It’s a chance to deepen our understanding of the area, its rhythms, and its quiet magic.

The longest and challenging day of the expedition, as we will start at the break of dawn. Today’s journey is a long one, traversing rugged dirt roads and sand tracks into the vast expanse of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Being a long day, we will make it comfortable with our special glamping team greeting us with all the hospitality instead of setting up your our roof-top tents.

Having had a super long day yesterday, we will start this day relaxed amidst wilderness and take it slowly. Today is dedicated to truly experience the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. We’ll explore the reserve’s waterholes—each one a gathering place for wildlife and a window into the rhythms of the desert.

After days immersed in the rugged wilderness of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, today brings a spectacular change of pace. We’ll journey out of the reserve and make our way to a place, where comfort and elegance await. A lodge nestled amidst spectacular landscapes and offers closer wildlife encounters.

The day begins with a Bushman Experience, where you will learn first-hand about the lifestyle, traditions, and survival skills of the San people. From fire making techniques to stories passed down through generations, this encounter offers a deeper connection to the land and a richer understanding of the Kalahari. After the morning’s immersion, the pace slows. Perhaps enjoying the pool or simply gazing out over the waterhole, where wildlife often gathers. Later in the afternoon, we’ll head out for drive with expert trackers who will reveal the wonders of the bush as the day fades into evening. Upon returning, the night unfolds with a Boma Dinner—a festive gathering under the stars, with firelight, laughter, and shared memories.

Watching them emerge from their burrows to greet the rising sun is a delightful and intimate encounter—an unforgettable glimpse into the daily rhythm of these curious creatures. Later in the afternoon we will head deep into the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans where we will be camping in a surreal location - white-cracked crust under infinite stars - pure elemental silence."

"This morning, we depart the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, leaving behind their stark beauty and timeless horizons, and journey toward Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. In the evening, we have planned a special farewell dinner keeping the spirit of Kalahari—a fitting farewell to the adventure."
